Welcome to Cannon Lane Primary School

Cannon Lane First and Cannon Lane Junior School amalgamated on September 1, 2013. We are thrilled to have become Cannon Lane Primary School. We have had a successful year with our children excelling in the progress they have made within, and beyond the classroom. We have had many successes in sports, we have even made our own music CD to celebrate our first year as Cannon Lane Primary School.

I will sadly be retiring from my post as Headteacher in July 2014, and I would like to wish the school lots of successes for the future. Mr Phillips will be taking over from me this September, and I am sure he will love it as much as I have done.

Warmest Regards

Dame Reena Keeble DBE, EdD

Cannon Lane Primary School is a learning centred school where we actively encourage all to learn, reflect and question. We know for the children to learn, they must feel safe, confident and happy. Therefore our school is a calm and safe place to be in with structure. We have high expectations of ourselves and each other.

Our Approach

We aim to excel – not only in achieving high academic, sporting and cultural standards, but also in delivering a holistic education that is grounded in moral, social and spiritual values. Above all, we want our pupils to enjoy their days at school and to know the joys of learning, discovery, challenge and adventure.

We want children to learn and have fun. We know they will only learn if they feel safe and secure and we do spend a considerable amount of time in settling the children into school when they first start. Whilst in First School children will have the opportunity to learn French, Drama, Football and Dance in addition to Music and the National Curriculum subjects
