Open Day Prospective Parents Safe Travel To School

Welcome to Cannon Lane Primary School

Cannon Lane First School and Cannon Lane Junior School amalgamated on 1st September 2013. We are now a large all-through primary school with an annual intake of 120 children. As part of an ambitious expansion programme, the school has benefitted from significant financial investment that has provided us with new, state of the art facilities for our children to enjoy.

Cannon Lane is a successful school with a very good reputation in the local community. Our aim is for children to be happy, safe and successful and to enjoy their time in school. As well as valuing academic success, we also celebrate children’s achievements in music, sport and the arts and are proud to offer a wide range of activities within and beyond the school curriculum. We are very pleased to have been awarded the ’Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM)’ Flagship School status in recognition of our commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for all children.

As the Head Teacher of Cannon Lane School, I am committed to ensuring that children enjoy their time with us and that they develop into confident, resilient and independent learners. I am very proud of our school and would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to share more about what we do here.

With best wishes,

Mr A. Phillips (Head Teacher)

Cannon Lane Primary School is a learning centred school where we actively encourage all to learn, reflect and question. We know for the children to learn, they must feel safe, confident and happy. Therefore our school is a calm and safe place to be in with structure. We have high expectations of ourselves and each other.

Our Approach

We aim to excel – not only in achieving high academic, sporting and cultural standards, but also in delivering a holistic education that is grounded in moral, social and spiritual values. Above all, we want our pupils to enjoy their days at school and to know the joys of learning, discovery, challenge and adventure.

We want children to learn and have fun. We know they will only learn if they feel safe and secure and we do spend a considerable amount of time in settling the children into school when they first start. During their time at Cannon Lane, children will have the opportunity to learn French, Drama, Football and Dance in addition to Music and National Curriculum subjects
